Jamaat supporters flock to Suhrawardy Udyan

Jamaat-e-Islami supporters have started gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan, as they will hold a national rally Saturday (July 19) to press their seven-point demand.

The program will begin with a recitation from the Holy Quran at 10am, followed by Hamd and Naat. The main event is scheduled to start at 2pm, party sources said.

Although the official rally is set to begin in the afternoon, party leaders, activists, and supporters started arriving at the Suhrawardy Udyan venue in groups from early morning. Many had already gathered there on Friday night.

A visit to Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, and Shahbagh areas showed groups of Jamaat supporters and activists walking toward Suhrawardy Udyan.

Around 10,000 buses were rented to transport Jamaat-e-Islami supporters to the rally. These buses began arriving at designated points from Friday night. From there, most of the participants are walking to the rally venue.

Meanwhile, 30 launches carrying party activists have been arriving at Sadarghat since morning. From there, they are heading to Suhrawardy Udyan either by bus or on foot. Many are also arriving by train. Bangladesh Railway has allocated four pairs of trains for Jamaat-e-Islami.

To ensure the rally runs smoothly, the party has deployed over 6,000 volunteers. The police have also taken special measures to manage traffic in the capital.
