Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has left Dhaka for the United Kingdom.
He took off for London on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning (December 17).
Dr Rahman is going there to take part in a pre-scheduled programme with a delegation of the UK government, the party’s Assistant Secretary General and Chief of Central Publicity & Media Department Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair told Somoy.
He said that after this Dr Rahman will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
The Jamaat Ameer is expected to return home on December 21, added Zubair.
Asked whether Dr Rahman would meet BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London, Zubair said, “I have no information on this.”
