The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Lesotho (non-resident, based in Pretoria), H.E. Mr. Shah Ahmed Shafi, formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III on 29 January 2026.
The Presentation of Credentials ceremony was held at the Royal Palace in Maseru from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time. The High Commissioner was accompanied by his wife during the ceremony.
On the occasion of the Presentation of Credentials, the High Commissioner held separate meetings with the Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lesotho, expanding trade and commercial cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest.
During the audience with His Majesty, the High Commissioner conveyed the warm greetings of the Government and the people of Bangladesh and expressed Bangladesh’s interest in enhancing cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment. He also extended an invitation to His Majesty the King to visit Bangladesh.
His Majesty welcomed the invitation and conveyed his consent to send a high-level business delegation to Bangladesh in the first quarter of the year.
