Bangladesh sends emergency aid to Iran

Bangladesh has handed over emergency medical relief supplies to the Iranian ambassador in Dhaka for dispatch to Iran following the decision of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The assistance is being sent through the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, a foreign ministry press release said today (April 23).

The United States and Israel launched large-scale airstrikes on Iran, targeting military sites, infrastructure, and leadership, starting from February 28.

Iran hit back by launching missiles and drones at US bases, Israel, and other allies and tried to disrupt key oil routes like the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, the US blocked ships going to and from Iranian ports, a move Iran calls an “act of war” that has raised tensions and affected trade.

Despite some ceasefire attempts, fighting and tensions are still ongoing, with global impacts such as rising oil prices and economic instability.

Iran has appealed for international medical assistance, asking for emergency supplies and support after attacks on health facilities.

At least 3,375 people have been killed in US-Israeli attacks on Iran since February 28, according to Iran’s Ministry of Health.

The victims were aged between eight months and 88 years. They included seven infants, 376 children and 496 women.

More than 26,500 people have been injured, including at least 4,000 women and 1,621 children.
